A School Nurse in Every School: Addressing Barriers to Adequate Funding for School Nursing

School nurses are key to student health and learning. When adequate funding is available, school nurses can also play a critical role in providing health services to students in the community. This webinar highlights the efforts of local school districts to ensure that students have regular access to school nurses and school health services. Participants heard from leaders in two school districts that have implemented innovative measures to increase student access to school nurses. Participants learned about Healthy Schools Campaign's efforts to address barriers to funding the work of school nurses.

Tim Stock from Oregon State University outlines health risks associated with pests and pesticides in schools, effective methods for reducing these risks, and a new law requiring "Integrated Pest Management" in all schools by July 1, 2012.
