Officer Job Duties

President

The President shall:

  • Be the chief elected officer, representative and spokesperson of OSNA
  • Promote the mission and vision of OSNA
  • Develop the agenda and preside over all meetings of the Board and all general membership meetings
  • Have the authority to appoint the legislative and membership chair, and any other special committees that they see are necessary to promote the mission of OSNA
  • Has the fiduciary and governance responsibility for the OSNA
  • Communicates with the membership via the OSNA website

The President serves a two-year term, serves in even years.

President-Elect

The President-Elect shall:

  • Work closely with the President to coordinate work of OSNA in order to assume leadership and provide continuity in transition to President.
  • Assume duties of the President in the President’s absence
  • Serve as a liaison with committees as assigned by the President
  • Conduct an annual review of the bylaws and operating guidelines and report need for any updating or changes for official Board action.
  • Serve as co-chair of the School Nurse of the Year/School Nurse Administrator of the Year Committee

The President-Elect serves a two-year term, elected in even years. Upon completion of the term, the President-Elect assumes the office of President.

Vice President

The Vice President shall:

  • Serve as co-chair of the School Nurse of the Year/School Nurse Administrator of the Year Committee
  • Works to promote the mission and vision of OSNA
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the President
  • Assumes the duties of the President in the absence of the President and President-Elect

The Vice President serves a two-year term, elected in odd years.

Secretary

The Secretary shall:

  • Record and maintain the minutes of all meetings, conference calls, and electronic messages of the Board and at all business meetings of OSNA
  • Maintains data of past actions of the Board
  • Records all motions and counts votes, when business is conducted electronically
  • Follows OSNA’s Record Retention procedures

The secretary serves a two-year term, elected in odd years

Treasurer

The Treasurer shall:

  • Serve as Chief Financial Officer of OSNA
  • Monitor and report OSNA income and expenses
  • Review all motions for financial impact and feasibility
  • Review and monitor all bank accounts and investments
  • Holds funds of OSNA and disperses monies using accepted procedures for reimbursement
  • Files tax returns
  • Maintains articles of incorporation
  • Works with financial advisory and brings information to the Board
  • Assists OSNA conference planning committees with conference expenses
  • Follows OSNA’s Record Retention procedures

The treasurer serves a two-year term, elected in even years

NASN Director

OSNA elects a Director to serve on the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) Board of Directors. This Board of Director has a fiduciary responsibility to NASN and serves as a voting member in the development and approval of the policies and procedures governing NASN. OSNA financially supports the Director in fulfilling their NASN responsibilities. See NASN web site for more duties of the NASN Director.

This is an elected position that requires previous OSNA officer or Board Member experience. The NASN Director serves a four-year term, elected in even years.
